The latest “Knowing Me Knowing UKSG” podcast is a conversation with Chris Banks, Director of Library Services at Imperial College London.

Chris has over fourteen years’ experience at library director level in higher education, and over 20 years in a variety of curatorial, management and strategic roles at the British Library. Between 2016 and 2022 Chris additionally held the post of Assistant Provost (Space) at Imperial. Chris is a member of the Jisc UUK Content Negotiations Strategy Group; chairs the Jisc UUK Content Expert Group. Chris is currently an elected Board member of Research Libraries UK (RLUK), and a member of the SCONUL Content Strategy Group.

In this podcast, Chris talks about their career journey, the experience and knowledge she gained in different positions, the value of a librarian qualification, and leadership qualities.

An interview with Nuala McLaren, Head of Head of Reader Services and Academic Support at Goldsmiths, University of London. Nuala has previously worked in leadership and management roles in public libraries and arts organisations. Her professional interests include customer service, UX, Civic and community engagement, EDI, Access & Inclusion and learning space design.

Nuala is part of Liberate our Library working group and led on creating a Positive Action Graduate Trainee Post as part of the EDI work at Goldsmiths Library.

An interview with Marilyn Clarke, Head of the IALS Library, a role she has held since September 2022. Marilyn Clarke has an MSc in Race and Ethnic Relations. She has worked at Senate House Library, Imperial College, London, and Goldsmiths, University of London where she held the posts of Head of Discovery Services in 2016, before being appointed as Director of Library Services in 2020.

An interview with Andrew Barker, Director of Library Services at Lancaster University, prior to this role he worked in senior positions in a number of UK HE institutions. Andrew was chair of UKSG between 2018 and 2022 and is currently co-chair of SCONUL.

Josh has previously held roles as Associate Director for Research at the University of Nottingham and Research and Scholarly Communications Manager at Lancaster University.
