                  Foot health is critically important in the Black community due to the disproportionately high rates of diabetes and its complications, including diabetic foot ulcers and amputations. According to the International Diabetes Federation, approximately 463 million people worldwide have diabetes, with a significant number experiencing complications that can lead to lower extremity amputations. In fact, studies indicate that African Americans are at a higher risk for diabetes-related complications compared to other racial groups. This heightened risk underscores the necessity for effective foot care practices within this community.
                  2. Disparities in Healthcare Access and Outcomes
                  Racial and ethnic minorities, particularly African Americans, often face barriers to accessing quality healthcare. These disparities can result in delayed diagnoses and inadequate treatment of foot problems associated with diabetes. Research shows that Black individuals are four times more likely to undergo amputations due to diabetes than their white counterparts. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for targeted education and preventive measures focused on foot health.
                  3. Importance of Preventive Care and Education
                  Preventive care is essential for reducing the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers and subsequent amputations.
