Learning How to Love - Part 17
    "Introspection"
    With Rabbi Ari Sollish
(Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 15, 2020)
Our sages teach us that the world is sustained by the study of the words of Torah. In these difficult and anxious times, we need -- more than ever -- the guidance, anchor, and spiritual comfort of Torah and Kabbalah.
In this edition of Kabbalah & Coffee we discuss "Introspection." When our hearts are dull, when we find it difficult to truly and sincerely feel, the Kabbalists advise that we embark on a very personal and vulnerable journey of introspection. But is this process truly free of ego?

Learning How to Love - Part 16
    "Broken"
    With Rabbi Ari Sollish
(Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 8, 2020)
The Holy Zohar -- the primary work of Kabbalah -- teaches:
"A wooden beam that will not catch fire should be splintered... A body into which the light of the soul does not penetrate should be crushed...."
Sometimes, despite our efforts to become inspired, we remain unmoved. Our heart stays cold and indifferent. We move through life uninspired.
Sometimes, all we want to do is feel. Feel something. But we can't.
Kabbalah offers a path toward reviving our emotions. This path is not for the faint of heart. It requires bravery and vulnerability. But the reward waiting for those willing to embark on the journey is great.
In this powerful edition of Kabbalah & Coffee, we discover the path toward emotional revival and receive the keys to unlock a broken heart.

    Answering Anti-Semitism
    The Jewish Response to Prejudice
    With Rabbi Ari Sollish
(Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 4, 2020)
“The Jews don’t fit in. They’re different.” The historical accusation has merit, doesn’t it? Are we not different in beliefs, dress, and in myriad other ways? How do we answer this charge? In the Purim story, the paradigm of antisemitism, we find the unexpected answer.

  • Judaism's Gifts to the World - Lesson 6
    Time to Improve
    The Jewish Concept of Progress
    With Rabbi Ari Sollish
(Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 5, 2020)
Ancient societies were staunchly anti-progress, considering human history locked in endless cycles. The Torah insisted otherwise: we can, must, and will change the world for the better; war will eventually cease; and justice and kindness will ultimately prevail-provided that this goal is harmoniously married to ethical monotheism. It charged the Jews with sharing this vision with humanity, and today's world is more open and eager than ever to hear our empowering message.

  • Learning How to Love - 15 - Nothing
Learning How to Love - Part 15
    "Nothing"
    With Rabbi Ari Sollish
(Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 1, 2020)
    Imagine nothing. Absolute nothingness.
Maybe you're picturing darkness. Maybe you're picturing empty space.
But all of those are definitions, constructs born of our created reality.
The nothing we're referring to is absolute nothingness, completely void of any definition or created parameter.
    Hard to imagine, right?
That nothingness is what "was" (or wasn't?) prior to creation. As the Kabbalists tell us, our universe is the product of nothingness, created yesh me'ayin -- something from nothing.
Function follows form. Our reality created from nothingness is influenced by the very created process. Deconstructing and understanding the creative process of something from nothing grants us profound insight into the mechanics of the universe, as well as our lives.
In this session oft Kabbalah & Coffee we explore the contours of nothingness, learn how it all began, and discover where we're going.
