People in south Reno say the cattle guards to keep horses safe aren't doing their job.

The cattle guards were a requirement put on the developer of a nearby Lennar subdivision by the Reno Planning Commission to keep wild horses safe. Neighbors say noise was just one of the biggest issues. Child safety is another. After public comments this week planners unanimously voted in favor of removing the two guards. Commission Vice Chair Mark Johnson says he appreciated the passion the residents brought to this issue......

Rain helped firefighters control 370-acre Chris Fire near Bridgeport.

A dangerous psychiatric patient who escaped from a facility in Hawaii and got on a plane to California, was caught in Stockton. It's believed he was on his way to Reno. Randall Saito was in the state mental hospital in Honolulu, after being acquitted of murder by reason of insanity. Saito took a taxi, got on a plane he apparently chartered, flew to Maui, then boarded another plane to San Jose.
