The Washoe County School District confirms no sign of a threat, after the school was put on a “Code Red” lockdown.

Californians will keep daylight saving time, for now anyway. Assemblyman Kansen Chu was efforting legislation to adopt a permanent Daylight saving time, but has ended his pitch for it, shelving the issue that would have been up for a vote in the next election. Chu won't be stopped entirely though, and plans to move forward with the measure again when the Legislature returns in January. Assembly Bill 807, if it's passed with a 2/3's vote, would enable Golden State residents to either adjust the dates for the beginning and ending of daylight saving time, or extend it year round.

Reno Police have arrested a suspect in the robbery at a Home Depot on Galleria Parkway in Sparks. About 7:30 Wednesday night a man and a woman entered the store and went to the power tool aisles. The man stuffed several items in his clothes. As he tried leave, he was confronted by a 70-year old woman employee. The suspect pushed the woman causing her to fall, injuring her head and one arm. Today a Reno resident notified a Reno Police Officer that the suspects were in a nearby restaurant. Officers found the pair and detained them. The female cooperated with police and provided a statement. Theodore MEADOWS was arrested for Obstructing and Resisting and Possession of a Controlled Substance with an Elderly Enhancement.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on US 95, south of Fallon in Churchill County.

The crash was reported shortly after 11:30 this morning just north of Pasture Road. A motorcyclist and a big rig collided; the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on-scene.

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has released a public report on an officer-involved shooting from November 2015. He says the shooting of a man by a deputy was justified. The shooting involved a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy and 32-year-old Gregory Kachman of Reno, who has now been sentenced to ten years in prison for Assault Upon an Officer with the Use of a Deadly Weapon and Stalking. The DA says the shooting officer was justified and has released a 30-page public report outlining the case and his analysis. A copy can be accessed on his Office’s website.
