A Placer County Sheriff's deputy shot a man early Sunday morning in Carnelian Bay at Lake Tahoe. Deputies were responding to a 9-1-1 call that said someone in the house was acting "bizarre". When they knocked on the door, a man answered holding a large barbecue skewer. He was ordered to drop the skewer, but instead lunged at the deputy and tried to stab him. Placer County Sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Scott said the deputy "used his service weapon to stop the threat." The man was transported to Renown Medical Center via LifeFlight, but his condition is unknown. The deputy is on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated...

One person was injured and another arrested after a shooting in front of the Eldorado in downtown Reno just before noon Saturday. Reno police say multiple shots were fired about 11 a.m. near Virginia & Commercial Row. One person was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but was in stable condition as of Saturday afternoon. A crash early Saturday brought down a power pole and caused an outage in the vicinity of Wedekind Road and El Rancho Drive. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says the driver who hit the pole wasn't seriously hurt, and ran from deputies because he had an outstanding warrant. He was taken into custody and charged. The road was closed for most of Saturday so N-V Energy could restore power and replace the pole.....

An earthquake swarm in south Reno that started late Thursday night has over a hundred temblors. It all started at 10:11 pm Thursday near Galena High School.
