Police are looking for suspects involved in a drive-by shooting at the Pioneer Inn Motel in South Lake Tahoe Thursday night. Investigators have talked to the owner of a vehicle that matches the description of the vehicle used in the shooting, but, so far, law enforcement has no suspects identified, or a motive for the shooting.

Witnesses have told investigators they suspect the crime might be related to gang activity, however, police have yet to confirm that. One or more of the occupants began shooting into the parking lot area of the motel before the vehicle continued westbound on Pioneer Trail.

The swarm of earthquakes in Nevada this week has claimed it's first victim...the ghost town Bodie. Bodie State Historic Park has been closed until this Sunday, at the earliest, because of potential damage to the structures in the gold mining town. The epicenter of the quakes was only 14 miles from Bodie, so rangers will be out the next few days to inspect the buildings. No buildings were leveled, but a preliminary look around the town did show some damage to a couple of them, including broken windows at the Boone Store and Warehouse, brickwork that fell from the Dechambeau Hotel, and at least one roof that needs to be fixed.

A two hour standoff involving the Washoe County Sheriff's Office ended this afternoon with one man in jail. It started in Incline Village shortly before eleven Friday morning when police were called to a home on Winding Way about a family disturbance. 28-year-old Shane Donovan had barricaded himself inside the home and told police he had rigged the entrance to the home with explosives. That turned out to be false. Negotiators talked Donovan down and he was arrested and taken to Carson City. Parole and Probation had recently issued a warrant for Donovan's arrest for parole violations.

A Reno man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted for the July 2015 murder of his girlfriend. 32-year-old Corey O’Neal Brewer was sentenced in Washoe District Court on one count of Second-Degree Murder. Brewer’s elderly grandmother had called 911 to report Brewer had found his 30-year-old girlfriend, Kirsten Krasovec, dead in the couple’s bedroom. The investigation determined Krasovec had died of asphyxiation and blunt force trauma, having suffered extensive injuries to her head, torso and internal organs. Police interviews with witnesses indicated a history of domestic violence between the couple.

In an effort to have zero fatalities on our roads this New Years, Northern Nevada Traffic Safety and the Nevada Department of Public Safety have partnered with Uber, and the Regional Transportation Commission to encourage everyone to party wisely, and take one of the many options available to get home.
