The deal worked out between solar providers, NV Energy and the state's consumer advocate has been approved by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission.

Nevada's house members, Amodei, Heck, and Hardy have introduced a new bill, that would exempt people in counties with only one health insurance choice, to opt out without paying a penalty. They say we were promised choices, but Congressman Joe Heck says Nevadans in 10 counties will be living under an "Obamacare" insurance monopoly in 2017, and it is unfair to inflict a penalty tax on residents in counties with only one carrier option. Crescent Hardy adds: Nevadans shouldn’t be forced to pay a tax on a monopoly caused by a government mandate that forced out other competition.

A decision by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission could restore older, more favorable rates to about 32,000 customers who installed or applied for a rooftop solar system before this year. The Nevada PUC is scheduled to vote today on a settlement between NV Energy, SolarCity, the state Bureau of Consumer Protection and the commission's staff. Customers who signed up before a rate hike took effect this year would be "grandfathered" into lower rates for 20 years. Commissioners raised rates for rooftop solar customers this year, saying it corrected a subsidy that non-solar customers were paying for those who had panels.

Senator Dean Heller says his top priority is keeping the government from shutting down, and getting funding passed to fight the spread of the Zika. He also complains about the flood of money into the political process, that is now out of control.
