Gov. Brian Sandoval is attending a memorial service for two firefighters killed when their fire truck crashed on the way home from wildfire spotting patrol. The service remembering 27-year-old Jacob O'Malley and 22-year-old Will Hawkins will be held today at the Winnemucca Events Complex Exhibit Hall. A 23-year-old firefighting colleague, Zachery McElroy of Reno, is recovering after he was hospitalized for injuries he received in the July 10 crash. The Nevada Highway Patrol says a tire blow-out apparently caused their fire truck to roll over several times.

Reno Police are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle that was seen in the area of the homicide on Wedekind Road early Saturday morning. The vehicle is described as a newer black 4 door pickup truck with chrome or silver rims that was possibly occupied by two or more African American males. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Wedekind and Clearacre Lane. Police were called to that area early Saturday morning where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds, now identified as 40-year-old Roger Ratliff. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Anyone with information is asked to call Reno Police or Secret Witness: 322-4900.
