I'm 51...born in 1970. I was 9 when the original Muppet Movie came out in theaters. The opening scene will always instantly bring me to tears. It is beautiful and simple with words that any 9 year old can understand. It makes me think of how innocent I was and how true it is that ignorance is bliss. It also makes me cry because humanity is so very far away from any kind of connection, rainbow or otherwise. 

I was appalled to discover that the official soundtrack version of the song is very different, and in my view terrible compared to the movie version. To please my inner child and set things straight, I have published this rip of the movie version. No extra drums or other BS.. just the original as I heard it in the theater in 1979. I did boost EQ a bit to bring out some of the instruments in this recording. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. If you really want to experience it right, just go watch the movie. This two part civics and music piece includes a Q&A session with Carl Sagan from a 1994 interview that  leads into "Symphony of Science - We Are All Connected" by Melody Sheep. From the artist: 

"We Are All Connected" was made from sampling Carl Sagan's Cosmos, The History Channel's Universe series, Richard Feynman's 1983 interviews, Neil deGrasse Tyson's cosmic sermon, and Bill Nye's Eyes of Nye Series, plus added visuals from The Elegant Universe (NOVA), Stephen Hawking's Universe, Cosmos, the Powers of 10, and more. It is a tribute to great minds of science, intended to spread scientific knowledge and philosophy through the medium of music.

This is a remix of The Doors song "The End." It starts with the famous, "What have they done to Mother Earth" live clip. Then a very relevant quote from a 1970 CBC interview. The songs starts as Jim finishes the quote. Putting these clips together like this tells a much better story and sends a civics message through music.
