Producer/Host Veronica Faisant in conversation with author Allison Carmen

In her new book, The Gift of Maybe– Finding Hope and Possibility in Uncertain Times, Allison describes what she considers the needless pain and suffering experienced when individuals fixate on knowing the outcome of situations and circumstances in advance. While setting goals and …mapping out plans can are essential to move forward in life, adopting an attitude of “maybe a different outcome is possible” allows flexibility and resilience to reveal greater possibilities in place of psychological defeat when faced with the unexpected.

Yesterday’s celebration of our nation’s independence from bondage had special meaning for some members of the LGBTQ community.  While last month’s Supreme Court decision, affirming the rights of Same Sex couples to legally marry in all 50 states, punctuated and underscored the notion of personal freedom and liberation for many, some Millennials (folks born early 1980s thru early 2000s) have always felt free.

Tonight, we continue the conversation with beneficiaries of past and current struggles for racial, sexual, economic and gender equality.   26 year old Corinne Wacher, tonight’s guest, is a self-identified and self-actualized lesbian. Corinne is successful by most people’s standards, and, at a young age, she has felt a level of personal empowerment that is enviable.

Corinne and her friends have a keen sense of their roles as “bearers of the torch”.  They share their dreams, concerns and challenges as they purposely light the path just as their grandparents did more than 50 years ago!

Tonight, in celebration of the Supreme Court’s ruling making Same Sex Marriage the law of the land, we’ll discuss what many hardworking, committed LGBTQ activists are calling a miracle!

Members of the gay and lesbian community who created committed long term, loving family relationships despite an environment of social hostility, have finally been given the validation they have spent decades fighting to attain.  In the U.S. people, are free to marry whomever they choose regardless of race or gender.

Tonight’s guest, Artist, Teacher, Social Activist and Entrepreneur, Karen Stern and Producer/Host Veronica Faisant will unpack this “Magnificent Manifestation” via a historical context of activism in the past 46 years.  And we’ll also get feedback from people born between the early 1980s to early 2000s.   Known as “Millenials”, they are direct beneficiaries of social movements which began and peaked in the 1960s.

It is important to celebrate and to understand how we did it–there’s much more work to be done!
