Since baseball season is in full swing right now, I want to give a shout-out to the Cape Capahas. The Capahas, semipro baseball team has been a part of Cape Girardeau’s sports traditions since 1894. This season marks the team’s 125th year of pitching, catching and home runs. The Capahas are a semipro amateur team, but they’re very good at what they do. The original idea for waterslides came from the Midwest, when Minnesota resident Herbert Sellner built a wooden structure that emptied into water. In 1923, it was called the Water-Toboggan Slide.
