आर्थिक वर्ष २०७८/७९ को बजेटमा कृषि तथा पशुपन्छीतर्फ ४५ अर्ब ९ करोड विनियोजन गरिएको छ, जुन कुल बजेटको २.७३ प्रतिशत हो । अघिल्लो आर्थिक वर्ष २०७७/७८ को तुलनामा यस आर्थिक वर्षको लागी ८.९ प्रतिशत (३ अर्ब ६९ करोड रुपैयाँ)ले बजेट वृधि भएको छ । सरकारले आर्थिक वर्ष २०७७/७८ मा कृषि तथा पशुपन्छीतर्फ ४१ अर्ब ४० करोड छुट्याएको थियो । यस एपिसोडमा आर्थिक वर्ष २०७८/७९ को बजेटमा कृषिको विकासको लागि विनियोजन गरिएको बजेटको विषयमा कुराकानि गरिएको छ।

यस एपिसोडमा धानमा एजोलाको महत्वबारे धान बालि विषेशज्ञ Dr. Bishnu Bilash Adhikari संग कुराकानि गरिएको छ ।

नेपालको अर्थतन्त्रमा धानको ठुलो भुमिका छ । हाल धानको आन्तरिक उत्पादनले राष्ट्रिय मागको ८३ % मात्र पुर्ति गर्ने देखिन्छ । र यदि यहि growth rate मा अगाडि बढ्ने हो भने सन् २०५० सम्म मागको करिब ८८ % मात्र पुर्ति हुने देखिन्छ । एकातिर अनुशन्धानको यस्तो आँकडा छ, अर्का तिर सरकारले अबको ५ वर्षमा धानमा अत्मनिर्भर हुने लक्ष्य राखेको छ । के यो हिसाबले अबको ५ वर्षमा नेपाल धानामा आत्मनिर्भर होला त?  धानको अर्थतन्त्र संग सम्बन्धित रहेर वरिष्ठ धान बालि विषेशज्ञ भोला मान सिह बस्नेत संग कुराकानि ।
