I had the chance to sit down with Marc after his Kitchen Table Gallery show last fall. We got into painting portraits of Philly locals, his Coal Country documentary, and some dark & twisted Philly history! Here's a brief description from our website about the paintings shown at KTG:
Brodzik's paintings are a complex response to the environment of his youth, the direction of his education, and our market driven culture. He seeks to give voice to a society that is cajoled by fear to live beyond its means through signs, slogans and logos. By adopting these very images of "product" he subverts the message of pro-consumerism.
For those of you curious about the residency Marc mentions in the episode, here's the link: http://www.macdowellcolony.org/
Thanks to freemusicarchive.org for creating a space where we can find musicians like the two artists featured in this episode.
