Get ready for a true Jamaican Christmas cuisine. Here are some Jamaican Christmas traditions: The Christmas day meal is usually prepared on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Day breakfast includes ackee and saltfish, breadfruit, fried plantains, boiled bananas, freshly squeezed fruit juice and tea. Dinner is usually served in the late afternoon and this may include turkey, chicken, curry goat, stewed oxtail and very importantly rice and peas. Jamaican red wine and rum fruitcake is traditional and is eaten in most homes. The fruits in the cake are soaked in red wine and white rum for months. Christmas is a very special time in Jamaica and like a lot of other countries, radio stations play Christmas carols. Lots of people paint their houses and hang new curtains and decorations for Christmas. My name is Dominique and I’m just a girl that wants to share her story to as many people as I can hoping to help just one. Being diagnosed with a brain tumor at nine to going through 187 chemotherapy treatments, I realized my story wasn’t just meant for me, there’s people that need to hear my journey. I self published my first autobiography called “#DamagedButNotDead” taking you through the journey of my life and just recently published my second book called “Selftalk...But You Can Eavesdrop Too” which are a collection of inspirational quotes I started jotting down during the hardest physical and mental times of my life. Yes I have a disability, but does that mean my life is over. I just customize it to fit me. I’m a business owner with a disability, a website designer with muscle weakness, a podcast host that breaks the stigma and an author with a bold personality...I contradict every rule out there!! So now that you know me, you know we’re friends forever, right?!
