But recently, I’ve noticed a massive emphasis among Christians on praying that casts out, binds, and calls down fire from heaven to burn Satan and other problems. This practice is built on the presupposition that Jesus gave believers authority and power over spirits, principalities, and heavenly beings. Thus the believer is encouraged to bind and cast whatever stands in the way of their progress or prosperity. Then, through prayer, they call down heavenly fire against Satan and those spiritual beings in league with him. But, unfortunately, casting and binding don’t seem to be the primary shape of most biblical prayers.

The mark of spiritual maturity that all saints should exhibit is living their lives for the glory of God and not the praises of men (1 Cor. 10:31). Men’s applause only last in this life. But living for God’s glory means that God is the focus. Why do you do the things you do? Is it so that men can see God? Jesus called out the Pharisees for loving men’s praises more than God’s (John 12:42–43). Ask yourself if your relationships, work engagements, friendships, and other life interactions are consumed more with what you want or what the bible says.

God has promised people who believe in his Son this eternal life (John 3:16, 10:28). Eternity means timeless. It is not easy to describe Eternity since everything about us (humans) is limited in time. We talk in tenses (time), we measure our movements and speed with time, and our lives are measured with time in days, months and years. You name it. No aspect of our life is not in time, whereas Eternity means there is no measurement and limitation of time. It means immortality, meaning no beginning and no end. But what is Eternal life?

In John 4:1-42 we read the interaction between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well of Jacob. The conversation begins with a basic request for water from Jesus. It ends with a sermon on Worship. We have all engaged in worshipping God in one way or another, so there is much to be said about what Worship is.
