The Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved a $500,000 grant for the the Penn Valley Community Foundation. The money will support public infrastructure for the future Penn Valley Community Center. The 10,000-square-foot space was approved by the Nevada County Planning Commission in June.

• A 34 year old man is currently in custody at Wayne Brown Correctional facility in connection to the Clover Fire. His bail is listed at $500,000.
• Sierra Streams Institute, the City of Nevada City Parks and Recreation and Nevada County Environmental Health Department have issued a joint warning about elevated bacterial levels in Little Deer Creek at Nevada City’s Pioneer Park. Sierra Streams Institute’s routine monitoring found E. coli and other harmful bacteria levels exceeded the Environmental Protection Agency’s threshold for safe contact. • A 40 year old Grass Valley woman was arrested for possession of suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, and Trazodone pills.
• Wrynna Kohler, owner of Native Wren and a graduate of Bright Futures for Youth’s The Friendship Club and Bright Futures board member, donated space in her shop for a special “pop up” event on Saturday.

Nevada County has reached a proposed settlement agreement with the Fair Political Practices Commission regarding two pro-Measure V postcards that were mailed to voters in 2022. The County has agreed to pay $31,500 to resolve the issue.

The Neighborhood Readiness Project wants to help you build your emergency food stash. Throughout August, several locally owned merchants are selling staples at deeply discounted prices, and the NRP has organized classes to teach people how to store those staples long term.

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office sent a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) during the Yuba Fire because it was moving towards the Yuba River Canyon at one point, an area that was likely populated by people who may not have been signed up for Nevada County Alerts. NCSO's Sergeant Liller spoke with KVMR news to explain how WEAs work and why they're sent out.

The Yuba Fire was officially mapped at just 19.8 acres. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Grass Valley Police Chief Alex Gammelgard has committed to removing all Flock ALPR cameras by the end of this week.

• The Flat fire, which started around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, north of the town of Gold Run, forced the closure of Haul Rd/Secret Town Rd, and Main St/Diggins Hill Rd in Dutch Flat and caused the Nevada County Sheriff to issue an evacuation warning for at least one zone. The fire is currently 22 acres and 60% contained.
• The Gann Fire in Valley Springs has been mapped at more than 10,000 acres. 22 structures have been destroyed, some of them homes, and 4 zones remain under evacuation orders. At least one person has died. As of this morning, CalFire is calling it 78% contained. Firefighters will continue mop up and suppression repairs today, no fire growth is anticipated. 
• The Bug Fire started around 4 p.m. on Saturday South of Bringman Road in Lassen County, east of US 395. It's burning about 30 miles north-east of Truckee and has reached more than 15,000 acres as of this morning. 

Last week's unanimous vote against the ordinance closes the door on legally living in RVs in Nevada County, at least for now.
