PECO bills will be going up for some customers.

Starting next month, PECO says customers who receive default supply rather than purchasing energy from a supplier will see a 3 percent increase. That's about $5 more per month for typical customers.

The reason the utility says is because of PJM Interconnection's market prices. PJM is a regional transmission organization that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity.

In a Statement PECO says "This latest increase underscores a growing and unsustainable supply gap and the urgent need for PJM and the broader industry to do more to bring reliable, affordable electric supply onto the system. Doing business as usual is not an option."

In response, PJM says it is doing everything in its power to bring new supply to the system.
