One of six people hurt in a boating accident along Long Beach Island has died.

State police tell NBC 10 that 28-year-old Gunnar Pearson died from his injuries after the boat he was on hit a channel marker in Barnegat Bay close to 6 o'clock yesterday evening.

Officials say Pearson and one other person were thrown into the water. That other victim is in critical condition.

Four others suffered minor injuries.

The damaged boat was taken to a marina near Brant Beach.

The crash is under investigation. Officials say no other boats were involved, and they don't yet know what caused it.
