The man who admitted to killing a city worker during a fight inside a Point Breeze corner store nearly two years ago has been sentenced to six to 12 years behind bars.

Seenaj Jackson pleaded guilty in February to third-degree murder and gun charges in the death of Philadelphia Streets Department employee Masir Williams.

On Sept. 7, 2023, authorities said Williams had just arrived to start work and stopped by a corner store at 23rd and Oakford streets with two coworkers. Inside, Jackson and Williams got into an altercation, and Jackson pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Williams was shot in the back and leg and later died at the hospital.

Jackson was on the run for a few weeks but was ultimately arrested by U.S. Marshals.

Judge Charles Ehrlich sentenced 24-year-old Jackson to six to 12 years in prison.

Waymo, the rideshare company with driverless cars, is testing its vehicles in Philadelphia starting this week.

Philadelphia Police say they have arrested eight people accused of illegal dumping over the course of the first week of the District Council 33 strike.

Officials say on Saturday, three people were arrested near North 10th Street and West Wyoming Avenue in the Logan neighborhood of North Philadelphia.

According to authorities, 53-year-old Steven Smith, 58-year-old Robert Allen, and 67-year-old Larry Highsmith have been charged with criminal conspiracy and scattering rubbish.

And police made two sets of arrests outside City Hall, at Broad and JFK.

On Wednesday, July 2, police say two people were arrested and issued Code Violation Notices.

And on Monday, three people were arrested and charged with trespassing after police say they dumped trash and blocked an entrance of City Hall.

The murder trial continues for a Levittown man accused of decapitating his father and holding his head up in an online video in an attempt to overthrow the federal government. A SEPTA police officer charged with assault during civil unrest in 2020 has been sentenced to probation after being convicted by a jury in May of simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Matthew Sinkiewicz was accused of striking two protesters with his baton while he was on duty outside City Hall in Center City on May 30, 2020.

He was fired a month later and then charged by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

Judge Nicholas Kamau sentenced Sinkiewicz to 3 ½ years of probation. He must also attend anger management classes, write heartfelt apologies to both victims, and complete 100 hours of community service.

A Philadelphia man convicted of secretly recording college students in a Villanova University bathroom is facing new charges that he stole nude photos and posted them online without consent. KYW Newsradio's Conner Barkon reports.
