  • Bill Cosby loses 1972 sexual assault case; victim to be awarded $19M in damages
A civil jury in California has found that Bill Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted a former waitress after escorting her to one of his comedy shows in 1972.
That's according to reporting from ABC Los Angeles and the New York Times.
The jury awarded Donna Motsinger more than $19 million in damages after nearly three days of deliberation.
Motsinger, who was working as a waitress in Sausalito at the time, testified that Cosby gave her wine and a pill that left her incapacitated.
Cosby did not testify, but claims the encounter was consensual. His lawyer told the Times he would appeal.
