FIFA has canceled thousands of Philadelphia hotel reservations just months before this summer’s World Cup matches are expected to kick off.

The Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association told our newsgathering partners at NBC10 that FIFA had a 120-day window to implement the cancellations. They did not offer details on why they made the cancellations, and, according to the association, they do not have to.

One man was killed in Evesham Township early Friday morning during a police chase. New Jersey’s Attorney General is investigating.

Police say it was just after 4:30 a.m. when an officer attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle then crashed into another, and the driver, whom police were trying to pull over, was pronounced dead at the scene, near the intersection of Route 73 and Lincoln Drive.

The police car was not involved in the accident. No other injuries were reported.

The AG’s office didn’t release the names of the officer or the man who died. No additional information is being provided at this time.
