Rowan University has ambitious plans — $690 million and 220 acres. And, it's an expansion that's not just for college kids.
The project includes a "wellness village" with 1,000 homes, including age-restricted and assisted living units. There will be a hotel, retail stores, health care office space, and a new manufacturing innovation center.
Rowan's president told the Philadelphia Business Journal it would be a "powerful catalyst" for boosting students and research capabilities and attracting outside investment.
The project still needs approval from Glassboro and Harrison Township in Gloucester County. Rowan wants to begin construction within the year.
