  • City temporarily removes AMOR sculpture from Parkway for repairs
There will soon be a little less love on the Ben Franklin Parkway. The city is removing the AMOR sculpture from its site at Sister Cities Park so it can repair the wear and tear it has sustained from weather and UV exposure.
A restoration artist approved by the Robert Indiana Foundation will strip and repaint the sculpture, and it will return to 18th and the Parkway in May.
Indiana created the Spanish-language version of his iconic LOVE statue in 1998. It came to Philadelphia for Pope Francis’ visit in 2015.

  • Graduate students and Penn reach tentative agreement, averting a strike
The University of Pennsylvania and GETUP-UAW, the graduate students union, have reached a tentative agreement, averting a strike.
A university spokesperson said Penn "has a long-standing commitment to its graduate students and values their contributions to Penn’s important missions."
If ratified, GETUP-UAW said it will improve wages and benefits. This would be the union members' first contract.
In April, the annual minimum wage would go up 22% to $49,000. Hourly workers would get $25 an hour with a 3% increase come July.
Graduate employees voted to unionize in 2024. The union has been working to hammer out a deal with the university since then.
