  • Another wintry blast could bring some snow to the Jersey Shore
    There’s a slight chance for light snow on Sunday at the Jersey Shore and coastal Delaware, though little accumulation is expected. The National Weather Service forecasts strong wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and minor coastal flooding.

  • Woman charged with pepper-spraying man on SEPTA bus during political argument
    Pennsylvania’s attorney general says he’ll prosecute a Philadelphia woman who was captured on video using pepper spray on another passenger during a political argument on a SEPTA bus earlier this month.
    AG Dave Sunday has charged 22-year-old Paulina Reyes with misdemeanor simple assault, possessing an instrument of crime and other summary offenses.
    Video of the Jan. 19 incident, circulated on social media, shows Reyes verbally attacking conservative blogger Francis Scales, accusing him of posting hate speech online, and then repeatedly spraying his face with what Scales identifies as pepper spray.
    Sunday says the case “is a reminder that violence will not be tolerated as a means to conduct political debate.”
    Reyes was released with no bail after her arraignment on Thursday.

  • Di Bruno Bros. closing 3 of its stores in Center City and the Main Line
    Di Bruno Bros. is closing two locations on the Main Line and its shop in Center City.
    The store at the Ardmore Farmers Market is expected to shut down next Wednesday.
    Workers at the Wayne location in the Strafford Shopping Center told the Inquirer their last day would be Feb. 11. Same for the market at Ninth and Sansom streets in Center City.
    Wakefern Food, which owns the brand, said it's "refocusing" on the Di Bruno Bros. stores in Rittenhouse Square and the Italian Market, as well as what it said is its "growing online business."

    The district’s proposed facilities plan would close 20 schools, including six middle schools, starting in the fall of 2027.   • Man struck in head with gun over Kensington parking spot dispute
    Police said during the confrontation, the 45-year-old pulled out a knife, and the 21-year-old pulled out a handgun. Both of them then put down their weapons and started fighting.
    Then, another person got involved: a 36-year-old woman who grabbed a gun from a car and struck the 45-year-old with it before discharging a round at the ground.
