    The U.S. first earned its measles elimination status in 2000 because there was no endemic circulation of the same strain over 12 months, and that continued.   • Pa. senator sees new urgency in weekly vigils outside Philly’s ICE office
    The Department of Homeland Security says it's sending hundreds more federal immigration agents to Minneapolis to help carry out the crackdown on immigration under the Trump administration.
    Minneapolis was the scene of last week's fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent, which has sparked protests nationwide.
    Back here in Philadelphia, State Sen. Art Haywood held his weekly vigil outside of the ICE office. In the wake of the shooting, he tried a new measure to engage the agents.

  • Cumberland County man accused of sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl
    The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office says 35-year-old Alex Torres-Lopez communicated with a 12-year-old Trenton girl on Roblox and Snapchat and eventually met her for sex on several occasions in late 2025.
    Investigators say Torres-Lopez also had the victim send him sexually explicit photos and videos. He was arrested at his home in Bridgeton on Jan. 7 without incident.

  • Richard Codey, former New Jersey governor, dies at 79
    Dick Codey "distinguished himself as the consummate public servant, working alongside people of all beliefs and backgrounds to chart a brighter path forward." That tribute from Governor Murphy, after Codey's death yesterday at the age of 79, after a brief illness. He was the former acting governor of New Jersey and the state's longest-serving lawmaker.
