The bankrupt owner of the former Crozer Health System wants to get rid of medical records. Prospect Medical Holdings said in a court filing that it's too expensive to store the records for nearly half a million patients. It said the documents "no longer serve an operational purpose" and cost it nearly $350,000 a year.
Prospect offered patients free copies of the records for a time, and then came to terms with the Foundation for Delaware County for further no-cost access. Prospect said in the filing that it will provide "a fair opportunity" to patients and governmental agencies to claim the records.
