  • Top MLB prospect injured in New Jersey car crash
    A top pitcher from New Jersey's Class of 2025, a prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers, is in the hospital following a car crash on Friday.
    According to the Brewers' website, Minor League pitcher Frank Cairone, who's from Gloucester County, was injured in a serious car accident near his home.
    The left-hander was drafted out of Delsea Regional High School in Franklinville and was the No. 68 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.
    The Brewers say Cairone spent the late summer and fall at the team’s complex in Arizona in anticipation of making his professional debut in 2026.
    There's no word on the extent of Cairone's injuries.

  • Twice-a-week trash collection begins in North Philadelphia
    Twice-a-week trash collection is set to begin today in North Philadelphia. It's from river to river -- east of Broad Street, from Vine Street to Hunting Park Avenue, and west of Broad, from Vine to Glenwood Avenue.
    If your regular pickup happenson Monday, your second trash day will be Thursday. The full schedule is on the city's website.
    You can set out up to eight bags, or four 32-gallon trash cans. They'll also take two larger items, like sofas and box springs.
    It's an expansion of a program that started in late 2024 in South Philly and Center City, designed to decrease litter and illegal dumping.

  • Philly criminal judge to be sworn in following ethics suspension
    Today, several Philadelphia officials will be sworn in. Many of them are judges. Some are new to the bench and others are beginning a new term.
    Among them will be Judge Scott DiClaudio, who has been suspended without pay by Pennsylvania’s Judicial Conduct Board for allegedly trying to influence another judge's case involving rapper Meek Mill. DiClaudio has been on administrative leave since the summer.
    He denies the allegations and says the other judge misunderstood him. The ethics violation case is still pending against DiClaudio.

  • Rubio says US won’t govern Venezuela, but Trump suggests otherwise
    Deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife will make their first appearance in a U.S. federal court today. Their arraignment is set for noon in New York City. The Justice Department has charged Maduro with accusations of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking, which he has long denied being involved in.
    Venezuela’s new interim president has invited President Donald Trump to "collaborate" with them and is seeking "respectful relations." But Trump said that the U.S. is currently "in charge" of Venezuela.
    Trump implied he could go after Colombia's president next for alleged drug trafficking, as well as saying Cuba is "ready to fall."
