A home in the Somerton section of Northeast Philly went up in flames early this morning, leaving at least one person hurt.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out just after 12:30 on Nandina Way, a couple blocks from the Philmont train station.

Officials said the fire was under control after about an hour.

They did not say how many people may have been injured, but our news partners at NBC 10 spotted one person being stretchered away from the burning duplex.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

As we welcome in the semiquincentennial year, the Philadelphia Historic District 250th Committee is launching 52 Weeks of Firsts this weekend. Every Saturday throughout the year, a free festival -- or "first-ival" -- will be held to highlight a Philadelphia original and the role it played in American history. As KYW Newsradio's John McDevitt reports, it starts with an event near Washington Square, where the first balloon flight in the U.S. took off a long time ago.
