  • In new memoir, John Fetterman says he should have ended his campaign after suffering stroke
Sen. John Fetterman says he should have ended his campaign after he suffered a stroke and the depression that followed.
The Pennsylvania Democrat writes in his new memoir: "My polling was so good at the time that I decided to keep going, still confident I could show voters there was little impairment. ... In hindsight, I should have quit."
The Free Press published excerpts of the book ahead of its release.
Fetterman had a stroke just days before he won the primary in 2022. He defeated Republican Mehmet Oz in the general election.
He details his struggle with depression, saying he was suicidal for months and moved in with his parents to reduce the strain on his wife and kids. Fetterman said a "therapist-in-training" told him "children need their daddy" -- those words, he said, became motivation for him to get better and be better.
    "Unfettered" is out today.

  • East Lansdowne Fire Company to close at the end of the year
East Lansdowne is losing its fire company. The borough council voted Monday night to close the volunteer operation at the end of the year.
The borough's mayor says there just aren't enough volunteers, and the costs to operate the company are skyrocketing. He says they would have had to raise the fire tax by 60%.
Instead, he says they're negotiating with neighboring fire companies like Lansdowne, Yeadon and Cardington Stonehurst for fire services. Those companies are all about a mile away from East Lansdowne's firehouse.

  • Lawsuit claims ousted head of Philadelphia Art Museum was wrongfully terminated
The former head of the Philadelphia Art Museum says she's the victim of breach of contract, unfair treatment, and abuse.
Sasha Suda is suing over her firing. She claims she was not given a chance to defend herself during a "sham investigation" that she says "reached false conclusions."
In a lawsuit filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Suda says the museum "engaged in a malicious campaign of retaliation, disparagement, and humiliation." She alleges she was falsely portrayed as "misusing museum funds for personal gain."
The museum has said Suda was dismissed for cause and that these claims are "without merit." She wants a jury trial, and is seeking two years' severance pay and damages.
