Ian O'Meara gives the announcements of the morning, along with a prayer and introduction of speaker Steve Haas, Chief Catalyst of World Vision. Steve Haas is a longtime friend of LJCC having spoken many times to our Church family. A gifted and dynamic spokesperson for World Vision’s worldwide humanitarian work, under the title “Catalyst,” Steve can be found engaging faith leaders, strategizing on World Vision’ s major initiatives or communicating about global issues that affect the poor. Steve’s background has entailed serving on the staff of Illinois’ Willow Creek Community Church to facilitating Socratic forums for Fortune 500 executives to refugee relief work on Cambodia/Vietnam border. He joined World Vision in 2001.

Ian then introduces Greg Ehlert who gives the sermon. Greg Ehlert is a former Presbyterian pastor, husband, and father (three sons) living in Mira Mesa. Currently, a campus minister with graduate students and faculty at UCSD through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Greg has diverse ministry experience including youth, college, families, men, and missions. He is the founder of Jobs of Hope, Inc., a gangs-to-jobs program in Greeley, CO and has been in church leadership in Washington, California, and Colorado. He is passionate about helping people take next-steps in their relationship with Christ and enjoys biking, tennis, drumming and talking to anyone who will listen to him.
