layoffs, breakups & now our city is on fire. i didn’t think things could get worse—but they did. it feels like we’re back in the chaos of covid, except now the air is thick with smoke, and my lease is up. i’ve never felt more untethered.

update: i evacuated la with two of my closest friends and made it safely to san diego. regardless of the chaos, we’re safe—and for that, i’m grateful. but the weight of it all feels crushing: friends losing their homes, memories turned to ash, and the uncertainty of what tomorrow holds.

today, my mom (mama sorkin) and i are heading back to my apartment in la to grab some essentials—just in case. regardless of how hard it feels to step back into that space, i know how lucky i am to have that choice.

regardless of losing what was,
regardless of not knowing what’s next,
regardless of the heartbreak surrounding us—
we still have each other. and for now, that’s enough.
