You know that phrase Fight, Flight or Freeze. That's actually derived from actions of our ancestors from hundreds of thousands of years ago. Back in the historic period a quick instinct could be the difference between you eating dinner or becoming something's dinner.
Flight; Running away at the sense of a problem; The safest method but you'll never learn what it'll take to defeat that big snarling beast. Also, you can only run for so long until you get tired and it catches up.
Freeze; Oh you're definitely becoming sabertooth chow. (Not recommended)
and then my favorite...
Fight; The most risky route but can be the most rewarding. It's the only option of the three where you can learn the most about your capabilities.
Although we may not have to fight Mammoths, Sabertooth's and other primal carnivores; the concept of Fight, Flight or Freeze is still hardwired into our DNA. In today's society those beasts come in the form of our daily obstacles. Those instincts can delineate the difference between being successful and fulfilling your desires or never getting where you want.
It wont be easy but that's the beauty of it. There's lots of room to learn,
to grow,
to gain experience.
It starts with that 1%.
That 1% is the fighter side of you. It's quiet but if you listen hard enough it'll tell you what you need to hear.
"We can do this"
From there, when you act on it, you get more confident, more ambitious and that voice gets louder and louder.
Until the point where the other voices are drowned out and fighting is your quick instinct. Learn its moves, outwit, outsmart, outmaneuver; Whatever it takes.
Then before you know it you'll be eating sabertooth steak for dinner.
In this episode I quickly breakdown the instincts of Flight, Fight or Freeze and the 1% concept.
