“Fight like Ana.” Those words will echo in your heart when you hear Ana Wakefield’s incredible story. After miraculously surviving a head on collision in the early hours of an October morning, Ana faced extensive brain injuries and doctors were not sure if she would ever recover. Ana is still healing today and she sat down with me to share her story and the moment she appeared in court to face the man who caused the collision and then fled the scene leaving her alone to fight for her life.
Join me for the conversation and please join us in prayer for Ana Wakefield as she continues to heal.

“Do it afraid.” These words help Sharon Irving step into and onto every stage life brings her way. Sharon is an artist, bridge builder, worshiper, voice for the voiceless and a person whose honesty fills the world with exceptional life and beauty. I sat down with Sharon to hear how a young girl singing in her grandfather’s church in Chicago’s South Side found her way to a “Golden Buzzer” moment on America’s Got Talent. We talk worship, anxiety and “Our Psalm 23,” her latest collaboration with Common Hymnal.
I can’t wait for you to meet Sharon and invite you to join me in supporting and sharing her incredible work.

This week the Senate will hold a final confirmation vote for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. The controversial vote to seat our next Supreme Court Justice will be followed by Election Day on November 3rd. I sat down with one of Florida’s brightest legal minds to talk about the Supreme Court, the upcoming vote and living by faith in our divided time.
What an honor to share time with a wise and faithful friend, who in the words of Lincoln harbors “malice toward none and charity for all.” I hope you will take some time for this important conversation as you begin your week.

Living by faith is a long, slow and deep walk that carries us through every landscape and season we can imagine. Along the way, questions, doubt and fear arrive and travel with our faith, hope and love. In my experience, learning to acknowledge and even embrace this commingled company within takes time, wisdom and sacred friendship. C.S. Lewis found this type of friendship in his relationship with a spiritual director who he described as “a man of ripe spiritual wisdom, noble minded but of an almost childlike simplicity and innocence.” I sat down with Samatha Gilbertson to talk about spiritual direction and the gift of not walking alone.
Samantha is in healthcare ministry, where she maintains dual leadership roles in Spiritual Care and Mission Integration. She graduated from Portland Seminary, of George Fox University, with a Masters in Spiritual Formation and Discipleship and continued her studies to obtain her Spiritual Direction certification.
Join us to learn more about spiritual direction and for our conversation on grief and loving well, as we enter the holiday season.

Artists see elements of our cultural landscape we may ignore or rush past. In this way their gift is prophetic. At their best, they call us to truth and love. I believe it will be artists and the arts, functioning in this prophetic way, that will help to lead us forward from this dark and divided cultural moment. If this is to be true, we need a deeper understanding and appreciation for artists and their gift. As Makoto Fujimura says we need cultural “estuaries,” ecosystems, where artists are safe, supported and invited to speak the truth in love.
I sat down with artist KC Clark to talk about artists leading the way forward and learn how we can help create and contribute to an ecosystem where the arts flourish. KC Clark is a maker + storyteller using digital and mixed-media to depict concepts of faith and culture. He is also a mentor and coach to young artists. He is the founder of Legacy Creative, a creative agency for makers + storytellers, and co-founder of BRIDGE + SAFEHOUSE, a home-based initiative to help creatives develop a healthy identity, explore creativity, and build strong community. He is husband to Julie, and dad to 3 daughters and one son. He makes his home in Charlotte, NC.
