Episode #78 - Wonderful Women Wednesday – We celebrate Actress/Director Regina King. She is the recipient of several awards, including an Academy Award a/k/a Oscar, a Golden Globe Award, and four acting Primetime Emmy Awards, the most for an African-American performer THAT’S BLACK HISTORY. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2019.  Her career is so long, I read a list of 45 movies and shows she’s associated with, including her Prime Video Movie displaying her Directorial Debut One Night In Miami sharing the night spent together consisting of Sam Cooke, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X and Jim Brown.

EPISODE #77 - This Marvelous Motivating Monday – We continue celebrating Black History Month.   Since it is President’s Day, I wanted to celebrate a Black Congresswoman who represented well as a Manager of the 2nd Impeachment Trial of the 45 President of the United State.  We celebrate Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett of U.S. Virgin Islands.  Her presentation was powerful, as were all of the mangers, but inspiring and motivating for many young people of color when she addressed the defendant’s attorney showing clips only of women of color.  Quoted as saying “I’ll briefly say that defense counsels put a lot of videos out in their defense, playing clip after clip of Black women talking about fighting for a cause or an issue or a policy – It’s not lost on me that so many of them were people of color and women.  Black women, Black women like myself who are sick and tired of being sick and tired for our children, for your children.”   She is the first Member from a U.S. Territory and the fourth African American woman to serve on the House Committee on Ways and Means, which is the oldest and one of the most exclusive committees in Congress, and she was unanimously appointed.  Among other things, she’s an advocate for improvements to critical infrastructure in the US. EPISODE #76 - This Fantastic Fellas Friday – We celebrate Houston Texan’s Michael Thomas.  A major problem with many Americans is basic financial literacy and it is because often timed children are not taught about savings accounts and paying bills and taxes.  Michael Thomas is known for his work on the field as a safety for the Houston Texans, but he also runs a free youth football camp that teaches kids about applying to college, budgeting, and investing.  He discusses the importance of teaching financial literacy young.  A Houston native, Michael has always been on the forefront of making the community around him a better place en route to his Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination.  Michael has focused on social justice issues and his approach has been two-fold, centering on advocacy and education while driving legislative change.  In 2020, he created the unique design of the NFLPA's "END RACISM" pre-game warm-ups, organized a Texans players-only video calling for social justice reform and generated over $17,000 for HBCU scholarship funds by auctioning off special game memorabilia. EPISODE #74 - This Marvelous Motivating Monday – We continue Black History Month talking about Jennifer King, the NFL’s first Black Female Assistant Coach for The Washington Team as an Assistant Running Back Coach.  She was quoted when interviewed by ESPN as saying:  "It's so important to open the entire pool of applicants when you have a position, so far historically in football, it's only 50% of the people; no women were considered. For future female coaches coming up, this gives them a foot in the door. EPISODE #73 - This Fantastic Fellas Friday – We celebrate Dr. Ibram X Kendi.  Named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020.  He is an Author, Professor, Anti-racist Activist, Historian of Race and Discriminatory Policy in America, Director of the Center for Anti-racist Research at Boston University, just to name a few things he is.  For theses reasons and more, I want to celebrate this Black History Fantastic Fella.  He quotes “Being an antiracist requires persistent self-awareness, constant self-criticism, and regular self-examination.” 

His new book Four Hundred Souls co-edited with Keisha N. Blain, who is an award-winning historian, professor, and writer.
