As shared by another source, 'all this will pass, but maybe like a kidney stone.' How apropos for this political season, not to mention many other situations we face!

The world is all shine, no substance and ultimately of no relevance. In the end, the kingdom of Christ alone will be left standing. Thank the grace of God that in Christ you are on the right side of history. Meanwhile let us be light in this passing world of darkness.

To conform us to Christ the Holy Spirit works through the Word of God to round us into shape. The Word informs the conscience in all matters of Christian faith and practice. The Word also grounds or roots the conscience in the solid rock of biblical convictions. Then the Word binds the Christian conscience to the principles and prescriptions of the will of God. Neglect the Word and predictably, the conscience will go south. Instead of acting in us as a reliable guardrail for the soul, an ignorant, permissive conscience throws us off course like a faulty compass or GPS. The vigilant maintain a holy conscience that stays the course of the faith; on the other hand, sleepers slowly acquire a hard one, weirdly numb and dumb about wisdom, love, righteousness and justice.

The term 'Sola Scriptura', or 'Scripture alone', was not just a rallying cry for the Reformation. The Reformers were convinced that Scripture is the final authority and completely sufficient for the Christian walk. The Bible is enough for the Christian life.

Speaking of a day of imminent judgment upon the godless in ancient Israel, the OT prophet Isaiah declared a timeless principle we should never lose sight of: 'But the Lord Almighty will be exalted in His justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts.' (5:14-16) Yes! That God is glorified in acts of His amazing grace is well known, but that He magnifies His holiness in His mighty acts of justice is a reality that often escapes human notice. In the historical drama leading up to the end times, just as He did in the time of the Genesis Flood, God will square the books with thunder on human wickedness and injustice as He once again will prove Himself holy once and for all. Rejoice in His grace, but rejoice in His justice as well. Those divine attributes are glorious moral complements. Grace without justice loses all meaning and breeds gross indulgence; justice without grace leads to unbearable guilt and tortuous fear.

"…the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that is to be revealed to us." Romans 8:18

Right now those who trust in Christ may not count for much in the eyes of the world, but at the end we will be the only ones who count for anything in the eyes of God. And on that outcome, we are betting our very lives!

As bees are drawn to honey, and flies to corpses, so saints gravitate to truth and their counterparts gravitate to error. Just watch which way the traffic is moving, and that will tell us which direction is safe and which is not.

The most dangerous enemy of the human race is one it neither sees nor believes in. That would be Satan and his demonic hosts who regularly dupe us and make dopes of us because we are averse to listening to God.
