Episode 22 of Lake County Sports Talk with Jon Kerr of Tribune Media and Joe Aguilar of the Daily Herald. Recorded on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
We switch gears this week and interview documentary film maker Santino Panico.
Panico is a 2004 Libertyville High School graduate and member of the 2003 state runner up Wildcats football team. He played college football at the University of Nebraska. He now resides in New York but has been busy traveling back to Lake County and Chicagoland for a special reason. A few weeks ago at the Music Box Theater in Chicago, Panico premiered his documentary film, titled "From The Ground Up", a film he wrote, produced and directed.
The film is about Panico’s quest to discover the athlete within himself—only as a vegan. He meets with vegetarian and vegan athletes, tells their stories about food and sport, confronting social norms and raising questions about the far-reaching impact of our food choices.
Join Jon and Joe for a wide-ranging interview with Lake County filmmaker Santino Panico.
