The hosts then move on to more relevant topics, like initial College Football Playoff rankings, as well as Ohio State injuries and snap counts. Recording before Tuesday night’s first CFP reveal, the guys attempt to predict the top-4. How high can the Buckeyes possibly go? Will the committee go chalk? And how accurate were the hosts? Finally, after touching on the health of Kyle McCord and others, the Hangout boys become Jersey boys as they preview OSU’s roadie at Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are an impressive 6-2, but own a less-than-impressive strength of schedule.

Regardless of who they’ve played and/or beaten before, Greg Schiano will undoubtedly have his team ready for a battle with the Buckeyes this weekend.

The Buckeyes went to Wisconsin after their big win over Penn State, and against the Badgers they played almost an exact replica of the game they’d played the week before at home vs. the Nittany Lions. It was a frustrating night watching the offense stall, and quarterback Kyle McCord struggled once again in the first half.

However, the defense played lights out once again with the exception of one drive and part of another (before eventually putting the clamps on for a key goal-line stand), and once Wisconsin erased a 10-0 deficit and tied the game, it was all Ohio State.

We break down the win over the Badgers, with the key plays, mistakes, and players involved, look back on our score predictions, and see how well we predicted the key players when we checked on our picks to click (we whiffed bigtime on the latter).

After our game rewind, we take our usual look around the rest of the Big Ten to see how other teams fared. Suddenly Nebraska looks competent after three straight wins, while Maryland’s wheels have come off a bit in recent weeks. The Cornhuskers might be the only team interested in winning the B1G West, but things change quickly over there.

We didn’t dive too deeply, but we did discuss the Michigan sign-stealing scandal and noted that the university has rescinded its contract extension offer to Jim Harbaugh.

Finally, we looked ahead to Saturday’s visit to Piscataway. Rutgers is already bowl eligible and will present the third consecutive tough, physical defense the Buckeyes have faced in succession. The Scarlet Knights have been playing hard for Greg Schiano and Ohio State can’t afford to take anyone lightly while the offense is sputtering. We made our score predictions and our selections for our picks to click both offensively and defensively for the Buckeyes.

On this episode of ‘Hangout in the Holy Land,’ Josh and Chuck attempt to predict this week’s initial College Football Playoff rankings, before discussing a less-than-stellar outing from their Ohio State Buckeyes.

At the top of the show, the Hangout boys banter about where teams should be ranked in the CFP, as well as which players should be in the Heisman conversation. The guys disagree on rankings, but only because Josh believes that the CFP selection committee will do whatever it wants in the last year of the four-team playoff.

Conversely, the hosts have nearly identical Heisman thoughts. Chief among them is the fact that Marvin Harrison Jr. should be considered one of the current favorites.

As for Ohio State's win over Wisconsin... Well, at least the Buckeyes have Marv, TreVeyon Henderson, and Jim Knowles. The Hangout guys were disappointed in OSU’s ‘other’ guys, but a win is a win.

However, if Ryan Day’s squad is to eventually hoist a CFP trophy, they will need much better play from QB Kyle McCord, as well as his offensive line and supporting cast.

Land-Grant Holy Land’s Stick to Sports is unlike any podcast you’ve heard on the Ohio State beat. On this episode of ‘Hangout in the Holy Land,’ Josh and Chuck attempt to break down and intelligently discuss TTUN’s (alleged) sign stealing. Thing or not a thing? Were punishable lines crossed? And who was directly involved? In other words, who ordered the code red!?

After ‘Conspiracy Hour’, the hosts look ahead to Ohio State’s upcoming road game against Wisconsin. Led by former OSU player and coach Luke Fickell, the Badgers looked like a team struggling with transition for the first month of the season. But thanks to a few gritty wins and Iowa’s surprising loss to Minnesota, Fickell and Co. are firmly back in the Big Ten West race, looking to upset the Buckeyes and set up a possible rematch in Indianapolis.

Despite each team dealing with impactful injuries, both Ohio State and Wisconsin took care of business last weekend, leading to or creating this pivotal cross-division matchup. And while the Buckeyes are currently a two-score favorite, the Badgers and their coach should not be taken lightly.

On top of Fickell being one of the best coaches in the country, the atmosphere in and around Camp Randall Stadium will be raucous and potentially game-altering on Saturday night. Can OSU quarterback Kyle McCord quiet the noise like he did against Notre Dame? And how many offensive weapons will he have at his disposal?

This has all the makings of a classic trap game for the Buckeyes, but the Hangout boys are optimistic that Ohio State’s clutch offense and stingy defense will travel.

The Buckeyes passed their second huge test of the 2023 college football season, outlasting the Penn State Nittany Lions 20-12 in a defensive rock fight of a game. The Buckeye defense played lights out, but it probably helped that James Franklin decided not to try to persistently run, because Drew Allar did not look much like a five-star recruit on Saturday. That could be due to the pressure of the OSU front, the hostile atmosphere, or some other factor, but despite a couple of decent early runs, Penn State curiously strayed from it a bit and became both predictable and ineffective.

We broke down Saturday’s scarlet-out win and checked back on our score predictions and our picks to click to see how close our pregame imaginations came to the real thing.

After that, we took our weekly stroll through the Big Ten scoreboard to see which B1G West team threw away its turn in the division’s driver’s seat on Saturday (it was Iowa). Wisconsin appears to have moved to the top of the pile out west after a complete collapse by Illinois in the fourth quarter. We also have to tell our children about a bowl-eligible Rutgers team.

Finally, we looked ahead to the Buckeyes’ trip to Madison for a Saturday night game at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin figures to be every bit as physical and tough as Penn State. The Badgers may not have the Nittany Lions’ talent across the board, but they’ve got the intimidating home crowd in a night game and this will be a good test to see if Ohio State can keep from resting on its laurels after a hard-fought win against a fellow Top 10 opponent.
