Content creator, Leafs fan, and hockey quiz guy Corwin McCallum from TSN's BarDown team joined the show today! We talked about yesterday's Habs-Leafs game, his experience with Cole Caufield at the World Juniors, the NHL Trade Deadline, and some of his favorite moments with TSN. The Montreal Canadiens play the Leafs this week on Wednesday so I invited fellow CSM'er and Leafs fan Jacob Bussey on the show! We talked about Alex Galchenyuk's resurgence , goaltending, injury situations, who has the better "old" guys, who is Canada's team and more.
Check out Jake's YouTube Channel at Jacob Bussey and his Instagram/TikTok @jacob_bussey99!
The Montreal Canadiens broke the overtime/shootout and reverse retro curses on Saturday. But is has been a rough week so far. Tyler Toffoli has a lower body injury and Jesperi Kotkaniemi landed on the COVID list with Joel Armia, resulting in Monday's game against the Oilers getting postponed. AND prospect Jordan Harris declared for another year at Northeastern instead of signing his ELC. So I was joined by three old high school friends of mine - Matt Cowan, Noah Siegal-London and Steve Concister to break it all down!
The start of NFL free agency less than a week away! I talked about who stays and who goes among the Cowboys' pending UFA's, and why their "cheap" approach to free agency might actually work this year! I then discussed their biggest needs (defensive tackle and safety) and who they should target.
With Stephane Waite getting fired on Tuesday and all the ensuing madness from Marc Bergevin and Carey Price addressing it to the media yesterday, I invited one of my former goalie coaches Stefan Goyette to break it all down! We discussed Price's recent struggles with the "mental" part of his game, trends among goaltenders today, and Goyette's plans for his Big Game Goaltending school in 2021.
Goyette is one of the best goalie coaches that I worked with in my nine years of playing goalie competitively, particularly because of how much he focuses on the mental aspect of the position. I also coached with him for four years before moving to Toronto. Check out his website: biggamegoaltending.com!
Matt Herskovitz is a former varsity hockey player, who played at the Midget AAA, USHS-Prep, Junior A, NCAA and CIS levels. He remarkably played 10+ years of high-level hockey despite experiencing several major injuries in his career, particularly concussions. He joined us to share his story on what he had to deal with both physically and mentally to overcome them!
We are joined by our usual special guest Justin Pooni of Process Sports Radio, who also happens to be a Canucks fan. We shared our reactions to the first of three consecutive Habs-Canucks matchups and discussed what we expect in Thursday's game. We then previewed the NFL Conference Championship games, and gave our predictions!
We have October in January with the NHL, NFL and NBA seasons all happening at the same time! Justin Pooni of Process Sports Radio joined the show, and we shared our reactions to Opening Night of the 2021 NHL Season yesterday, focusing on Habs-Leafs and Canucks-Oilers. We then previewed the NFL Divisional round matchups and gave our predictions!
We are four days into Montreal Canadiens training camp and some of our offseason questions have already been answered, particularly regarding the forward lines and defense pairings. Fellow personal trainer and Montreal Canadiens enthusiast Matt Cowan joined the show, and we discussed the trios/pairings that stood out to us the most, where Corey Perry can fit into the lineup, expectations for Alexander Romanov, and more!
Happy new year! We kicked off 2021 with our special guest Justin Pooni of Process Sports Radio to discuss (and DEBATE) some of the biggest storylines from NFL Week 17, particularly our takes from Doug Pederson and the Eagles "tanking". We then previewed what will be the busiest Wild Card Weekend in NFL history, and we have some dazzling bold predictions as usual! Mike made a case for Washington to upset the Bucs, while Justin explains how the Browns can beat the Steelers despite missing head coach Kevin Stefanski.
