The World According to Mafalda
A few months ago that Caracas, is very visited especially in the center of the city, the cause is because of the countless events, which are being presented every week, in museums and art galleries, are different activities for the general public to attend; These days I was back to the National Art Gallery and I signed up, to travel the world according to Mafalda, the reason why I tell you this. It is because in our capital city, is being presented for the second time this wonderful interactive or participatory exhibition, as you prefer to call it, takes us back to those years of 1960, where Mafalda marked an icon at that time.
El Mundo Según Mafalda
Hace unos meses que Caracas, está muy visitada sobre todo en el centro de la ciudad, la causa es por los innumerables eventos, que se están presentando todas las semanas, en sus museos y galerías de arte, son diferentes actividades para que asista el público en general; En estos días estuve de vuelta a la Galería de Arte Nacional y me apunte, para viajar por el Mundo según Mafalda, la razón por la que les digo esto. Es porque en nuestra ciudad capital, se está presentando por segunda vez esta maravillosa exposición interactiva o participativa, como lo prefieran llamar, nos remonta a esos años de 1960, donde Mafalda marcó un icono en esa época.

Su debut oficial como tira cómica, fue el 29 de septiembre de 1964 y en principio era solo Mafalda y sus padres, un año después, en enero de 1965, Quino incorpora al elenco, a Monolito, Manuel Goreiro, el 6 de junio debuta Susanita, Susana Clotilde Chirusi, y Guille nace en el 68, como hermanito de Mafalda. Y, por último, incorpora a Libertad, les hago esta breve reseña para recordar. Luego, en el año de 1973, Quino, hizo que los personajes se despidieran de los lectores.
As we know, Mafalda was a dreamer girl of 6 years old, who has the idea of a better world, she was worried about the social and political problems of those years and with her reflections, she thought that there could be solutions, since she had a different concept of the world than the others and she interpreted it according to how she perceived it and that was her greatest concern. (I could feel it: sad, sick, deflated upside down..)
Como sabemos, Mafalda era una niña soñadora de 6 años, que tiene la idea de un mundo mejor, le preocupaban los problemas sociales y políticos de aquellos años y con sus reflexiones, pensaba que podía haber soluciones, ya que ella tenía un concepto del mundo diferente a los demás y ella lo interpretaba según como ella lo percibía y esa era su mayor preocupación.(Lo percibía: triste, enfermo, desinflado boca abajo..)
There were times when he had a hard time, he hated soup and his mother served him soup every day. The teacher would call her attention to her, when it wasn't really her fault. And what she loved most were the Beatles and one day, Susanita with the arm of the record player, scratched the Beatles long play, you can imagine the tantrum of that day, she was a fan of this English group.
Había momentos en que la pasaba mal, detestaba la sopa y su mamá le servía sopa todos los días. La maestra le llamaba la atención, cuando en realidad no tenía la culpa. Y lo que más amaba eran los Beatles y un día, Susanita con el brazo del tocadiscos, le rayó el long play de los Beatles, se imaginarán la rabieta de ese día, ella era fan, de este grupo inglés.
In her spare time she watched TV with her family or friends, she loved the crazy bird, and she wished that cartoon would win the Oscar award, as she considered it the best movie.
En sus ratos libres veía la televisión en familia o con sus amigos, le encantaba el pájaro loco, y deseaba que esa comiquita ganara el premio Oscar, ya que ella la consideraba la mejor película.
Mafalda and her friends were always looking for solutions to everyday problems. For example, they used a fork and transformed it into a telepathic antenna to better capture ideas, they used a spaghetti strainer as a helmet to pass their ideas, the chair to wait for solutions for adults, and many other inventions.
Mafalda y sus amigos siempre estaban buscando soluciones a los problemas cotidianos para ello inventaban objetos, Por ejemplo, utilizaban un tenedor y lo transformaban en una antena telepática para captar mejor las ideas, usaban un colador de espaguetis como casco, para hacer pasar sus ideas, la silla para esperar soluciones para los adultos y así otros inventos más.
His friends were also hyperactive. Monolito, like his father, was the owner of the store, he helped his father in the sale and also had many dreams and illusions, to succeed in life, with his ambitious ideas of having a lot of money.
Sus amigos también eran hiperactivos. Monolito, como su papá, era el dueño del almacén, ayudaba a su padre en la venta y también tenía muchos sueños e ilusiones, para triunfar en la vida, con sus ideas ambiciosas de tener mucho dinero.
Felipe, the oldest, is very lazy to run errands and do homework, does not like school, however, he is very good at chess, is a regular reader of comics and adventures and is deeply in love with his neighbor Muriel.

The exhibition is amazing, Mafalda comes to life, when you get to the hall; there the guides are waiting for you and they give you a brief history of its creator and his creation, the exhibition is said to be interactive because the viewer can take pictures, hear the music that Mafalda liked, watch his favorite programs, create comic strips, make inventions in the style of Mafalda, each module you pass, you discover the child inside you.
La Exposición es sorprendente Mafalda cobra vida, cuando llegas a la sala; ahí te esperan los guías y te van haciendo una breve historia de su creador y de su creación, la exposición se dice que es interactiva porque el espectador puede tomarse fotos, oír la música que le gustaba a Mafalda, ver sus programas favoritos, crear tiras cómicas, hacer inventos al estilo de Mafalda, a cada módulo que pasas, descubres el niño que llevas por dentro.
In the background of this story through Mafalda, Quino presented the reality of a country, where young people reflect and have conscience to see the world from their vision and that is why Mafalda always asked her parents and bothered them with any question about the world, society, peace, many times, they did not have answers, but all these elements worried her for the good of humanity.
En el fondo de esta historia a través de Mafalda, Quino nos presentaba la realidad de un país, donde los jóvenes reflexionara y tuvieran conciencia para ver el mundo desde su visión y por ello siempre Mafalda preguntaba a sus padres y los incomodaba con cualquier interrogante sobre el mundo, la sociedad, la paz, muchas veces, ellos no tenían repuestas, pero todos estos elementos le preocupaban por el bien de la humanidad.
So this trip with Mafalda invites us to remember an era that marked us, with the witticisms of this character and allowed us to make an introspection of those years, ratifying that Mafalda is the most popular and beloved character in the world.
