In this episode we look at the passages that many have used to prove that one can lose their salvation. As you will see, once context is taken into account, the Bible clearly does not teach such a reality.
Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith; and thus, if Christ saves us, we cannot lose that salvation. This doctrine teaches that God perseveres us in our faith so that we are unable to fall away. If someone renounces the faith, they show that they were never truly regenerated and their faith was not genuine.
If God elects certain people to salvation, then the Gospel will come to His lost sheep in an irresistible way. God's call to His lost sheep is a divine summons to faith and repentance. In the heart of the one being saved, they want nothing more than to call on the name of the Lord for salvation. Doctrinally, we call this regeneration as the Spirit makes a dead heart alive.
Of the doctrines of grace, none are as rejected as the doctrine of limited atonement. Many people do not make it past the name of the doctrine. But with a reasonable look at Scripture, this doctrine is easily seen and easily defended.
If God has chosen who He would save before the foundation of the world, why evangelize? In this episode we discuss how the doctrine election actually promotes evangelism. We also answer the question of what happens to people who never hear the Gospel.
In part two of our discussion on election, Adam and I take a deeper look at Romans chapter nine. Amazingly, Paul anticipates all of the major questions that are posed against this doctrine.
The doctrine of election, or sometimes called predestination, is one of the most highly contested doctrines in all of Scripture. Though the Bible speaks on election explicitly, clearly, and widely, the truth that God chooses who he will save rubs against the desires of the flesh. The Scriptures present a clear case for the reformed understanding of election, we must simple submit to the word and its teaching.
The doctrines of grace, or more commonly known as the doctrines of Calvinism, are some of the most highly debated doctrines in all of Christianity. If we simply set our own presuppositions aside, the Bible clearly displays these undeniable truths. The first doctrine, known as total depravity, is a truth so widely defended in Scripture, that it is a shame so many churches and pastors will not touch it with a ten-foot pole. Join with Adam and I as we discuss man's sinfulness and wickedness as displayed in Scripture.
In part two of our false gospel discussions, Adam and I talk about the perverse false gospel called the prosperity gospel. Likely the most well know false gospel, the prosperity gospel is still reeking havoc around the world. Though completely contradictory to Scripture, the prosperity gospel caters to so many of man's fleshly desires: health, wealth, and success.
The gospel is an offensive message. It is so offensive that it is often changed to better suit the passions of the human heart. Join us as we discuss the non-lordship false gospel and the works-based false gospel, two gospels that tickle the ears of dead men.
