  • Conversation on Unconscious Bias

Bron didn’t know she was a “fish”. Not when she responded to the Salvo email for volunteers to work on Nauru. Not when she landed there and walked out into the hot tropical sun. Not even when she completed her induction.

Bronwyn first started to get an inkling that she may be a fish when she recognised the churning in her stomach as fear. She was afraid of the asylum seekers because they were different to her and although it took her a while, Bron came fully face to face with her “fishiness”. She realised that she’d been swimming in the water of racism and white privilege her whole life – part of growing up in a mono-cultural conservative Bible-belt part of Sydney.

Bron couldn’t stop being a fish, but now she knew about her “water” she could work with it. As she returned to Nauru in the full-time role of Religious Liaison Officer, responsible for the religious needs of the entire asylum seeker cohort – Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Zoroastrians - it became a joy for Bronwyn to sit at her desk and hear so many languages swirl around her. Working in a multi-faith, multi-race team, Bron learned to value difference as an asset rather than see it as a threat.

Now, Bronwyn uses that insight to raise awareness of bias, work to identify the biases at play and assist in developing strategies to work with bias rather than have it be a limiting factor in the workplace.

  • Rewire Your Mind for Success: LaTisha Styles' Tips for Entrepreneurs

In this episode,  I had a great conversation with LaTisha Styles about the importance of identifying subconscious blocks and tools we can use to overcome them.

Subconscious Blocks hinder our ability to be productive in life and in business, some of these blacks have been with us so long we chalk them up to simply being a part of who we are.

In our conversation LaTisha states, "I could give someone the tools and the systems and the how to sometimes there was always this  little thing here or there that prevented them from taking action and getting success with it.

So then the question became, not only what causes someone to buy, but what causes someone to just take action and help them to get the results.

And that led me into where I am now, which is helping business, owners entrepreneurs and any individual who realizes that they have more potential, help them to shift subconscious blocks so that they can create massive profit and assume the throne, in their in their life and in their business.

  • How To Become A Coach With Clarity
What does it take to become a coach with clarity ? In this episode I ask that question to Lee Chaix McDonough founder of "Coach with Clarity". In this conversation Lee provides us with practical and easily implementable tools that we can use to become that which we desire to be.

Here is just a snippet of our conversation, Lee states :

I developed a tool that I call the coaching business compass, and it's composed of eight different directions that you can take in your business at any given time, based on what your priorities are, where you're at, in your journey.

If you're creating a new offer, I mean, there's a lot to consider here, I created it as a compass and not a roadmap. Because a roadmap is really linear, it suggests we're going to do something, we're going to hit a milestone, check that box and move on.

Whereas we know in business, a lot of times we're going back, we're revisiting core concepts and ideas and even our core values. So a compass allows us to pivot to head in another direction and then move back at a later point.

But on that compass that I've created, the true north, the very first direction is about your identity. It's really ensuring that you have a clear understanding of what matters most to you. So before we even start talking about your ideal client, who they are and your offer and all of that, we need to really ground down into your values.

What matters most was to you ,the natural skills and talents you bring to the table because I guarantee you have them. Even if they don't necessarily feel like strengths or talents right away, they're in there. And in fact, often what makes us really powerful as coaches and what sets us apart, we don't even see as a strength because it comes so naturally to us.

We actually have to have other people point that out, right?

Yeah, right, right. So we will, we want to make sure we're really clear on who we are not as even as a coach, but as a human being, what we stand for and what we believe in.

Once we're really solid on our values and our strengths, then we can start facing outward. And looking at our ideal clients, our coaching approach, our coaching offers, all of that is important that comes next.

But we have to have that really strong foundation in our identity first.

Four Major Factors of Successful Business

A successful business comprises four crucial elements: marketing, sales, operations, and finance. Each of these factors is instrumental in building a strong foundation for a thriving enterprise. Effective marketing strategies help a business connect with its target audience and make its presence known in the competitive market. Marketing

Effective marketing is pivotal for a business to reach its target audience and build brand awareness. Businesses must create a robust marketing strategy incorporating various platforms such as social media, online publications, news publications, TV interviews, and radio. With a strong marketing presence, a company can create multiple touchpoints with potential customers, strengthening its visibility and impact. Marques Ogden highlighted the significance of marketing in driving people to a business website or other endpoints to engage them further. He also shared his success story after hiring a publicist, which led to feature stories in online publications like Authority Magazine and a forthcoming appearance on BuzzFeed. Ogden emphasized the power of marketing in propelling business expansion and gaining credibility in the market.

    Importance of Public Speaking Skills

Effective public speaking skills are essential in the business world, especially for entrepreneurs who need to impress investors, connect with customers, and inspire their teams. The ability to convey a message confidently and concisely significantly impacts the audience's perception of a speaker and their business offering. Marques Ogden underlined the importance of public speaking during the podcast, describing how his experience in professional sports provided him with unique insights into communication. He mentioned the necessity for crisp and concise delivery in sales, and how developing communication skills contributed to his transition from the NFL to entrepreneurship.

    Benefits of Having a Coach

Professional coaching can provide invaluable guidance and support to budding entrepreneurs. By offering tailored advice, personalized support, and proven strategies, a coach can help individuals sharpen their skills, overcome obstacles, and reach new heights in their business endeavors. LaQuita Monley and Marques Ogden discussed the role of coaching in their lives and its impact on their professional growth. Ogden detailed his own experience working with a coach who helped him master his elevator pitch, emotionally connect with people, and hone his business skills through assessments. Monley emphasized how having a coach can lead to heightened personal and business success.

    Investing in Yourself

Investing in personal and professional development is critical for entrepreneurs seeking long-term success. This investment can take various forms, such as attending workshops, hiring a coach, or pursuing educational opportunities. The aim is to gain valuable insights, develop new skills, and ultimately, increase your business's overall potential. The importance of investing in personal growth was a recurring theme in LaQuita Monley's conversation with Marques Ogden. Ogden shared his experiences investing in self-improvement and how it significantly contributed to his business success, allowing him to purchase a new home and invest in a vacation property in Puerto Rico. Both Monley and Ogden encouraged listeners to allocate resources towards their development to achieve their personal and entrepreneurial ambitions.

Navigating Identity & Motherhood with America's Super Mom, Lachelle Adkins

Working moms who are struggling to balance it all, have you heard the following myths about embracing your identity as a mom and beyond?

Myth #1: You can't prioritize your own needs without being a bad mom.

Myth #2: Once you become a mom, your identity is solely mom.

Myth #3: Seeking self-care is selfish and takes away from being a good mom.

But fear not, LACHELLE ADKINS is here to share the truth about self-care and embracing your identity as a working mom. Let's debunk these myths together and prioritize our own well-being while still being amazing moms.

In this episode, you will be able to:

    • Unlock powerful coping mechanisms to deal with depression as a mom while preserving your authenticity.
    • Embrace your unique identity amidst the stereotypes of motherhood and societal norms.
    • Master the art of juggling work, motherhood, and self-care by reaching out when support is necessary.
    • Learn to practice self-care without giving in to the pressures of attaining perfection as a working mother.
    • Develop a strong family vision and objectives by engaging family members and friends for assistance.

My special guest is LACHELLE ADKINS

Meet Lachelle Adkins, an extraordinary mom of 15 children, who has dedicated her life to helping other moms navigate the complexities of motherhood and self-care. With a strong academic background and an inspirational story of overcoming depression, Lachelle is a beacon of hope and wisdom for working moms everywhere. Joining LaQuita Monley on her podcast, Lachelle dives into the importance of embracing one's identity against societal norms and finding strength in authenticity. Her infectious enthusiasm and genuine compassion make her an invaluable resource for moms seeking guidance and support on their journey to self-discovery.

    Blending Work and Home Life

Trying to separate work and home life can create additional stress and unrealistic expectations for working moms. Instead, finding ways to blend the two can lead to a more manageable and fulfilling day-to-day life. In the podcast, Lachelle Adkins suggests creating a family vision and setting goals that everyone can work toward together. By connecting work and home life, it helps to create a supportive environment where family members can collaborate and hold each other accountable. Finding ways to integrate personal and professional responsibilities can lead to more realistic expectations and a greater sense of balance for working moms.

    Importance of Identity

Understanding and embracing one's unique identity is crucial for personal growth and overall well-being. Knowing who you are, beyond societal expectations, enables you to make authentic choices that lead to a more fulfilling life. During the conversation, Lachelle Adkins discusses her journey of rediscovering her identity after feeling lost for many years. She highlights that identity is not about what other people think of us, but rather what we know about ourselves. By prioritizing an exploration of one's identity and interests, moms can learn to navigate societal expectations and make decisions that align with their values and passions, ultimately giving them a greater sense of purpose and satisfaction in life.

    Learning to Prioritize

Setting priorities and focusing on what truly matters is the key to finding balance and managing the stresses of work and motherhood. Rather than trying to do everything, working moms can learn to prioritize their goals and find ways to delegate or outsource tasks that can be done by others. LaQuita Monley highlights the importance of collaboration over competition, sharing how she found creative solutions to make her life easier, like bartering with people and outsourcing daily chores. Lachelle Adkins also emphasizes the need to give oneself grace and let go of the pressure to be perfect, ultimately prioritizing self-care and personal well-being.
