Some books are so well written that they are better read than listened to. Other books are better listened to than read if they are well- narrated. This fits that latter category. This is narrated with enthusiasm which suits the topic and makes the whole thing very inspirational and a very easy listen.

Overall I felt the story was lacking what I was looking for. I did not find it inspirational and felt myself waiting for the chapters to end to hopefully get to an actual experience rather than mere dialogue of the family coping with the event and filler to attempt to move the story along.

I suggest you look elsewhere for an inspirational book.

Inspiring!! Amazing! Miraculous!

I stayed up most of the night listening to the audiobook, "I saw God" and wanted to tell you how inspired I became by your family's story! First of all, God Bless you and your family for sharing this amazing miracle! Thank you for spreading the word of Jesus Christ to this dark and hardening World we live in. As I grow older, I am coming to the realization that being a Christian is a real treasure and it breaks my heart that there are so many that don't know Christ at all, and even more that turn their backs on him. I felt the Holy Spirit all around me while listening and I prayed your prayer at the end out loud, and I don't normally pray out loud! I felt an overwhelming feeling of warmth and love within me while praying, and as I write this message to you, the feeling gets even stronger. Where's The Movie or Mini-Series?!

It's clear that despite all the mistakes and unfortunate circumstances of Liz Renay, she is clearly one of the happiest people alive. The camp value is definitely there and your hooked after the first paragraph - read between the lines and you'll connect with a woman who's happiness has been put to the test. Her belief in loving herself and to love others (as simple as it is) is an emotional level few people in life actually reach. Have fun reading this book - I sure did. Now, if only John Waters will make a movie version!!!

Keep Talkin, Liz!

If you "get" Liz Renay, get this book. it's hysterical! She's like a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Penelope Pitstop! Danger seems to lurk around every corner for Ms Renay in her search for stardom--and if it isn't getting her, it's getting her kids! They fall out of second story windows, get attacked attempting to visit her in prison, and even end up stripping with her. Through all her trashy tales though, Liz manages to emerge as a lovable eccentric: a warm-hearted optimist, which saves 'My Face..." from ever becoming the maudlin "could-have-been" saga that it might have been. On a par with Mamie Van Doren, only more entertaining, Liz's quirky narrative entertains from start to pulpy finish. Oddly inspiring!

Where's Brutus?????

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

It's a fine book for someone who wants to read a more generalized story about working with wildlife or exotic creatures. I generally enjoy those sorts of books... but bought it because I wanted to hear about BRUTUS, not the wolves, wild grizzlies, other grizzlies, and myriad other characters Casey discusses. It was like taking a bite of cake expecting chocolate - only to discover it was, in fact, gingerbread. Not bad, but jarring, and not what was expected.

What could Casey Anderson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Focus on Brutus! If you're going to write a book and call it THE STORY OF BRUTUS, the story of Brutus should be front and center. Halfway through the book, I was still wondering what on earth happened to the bear cub between his removal from his mother and the snatches of anecdote about his adolescent and adult self.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The cadence of the narration wasn't my style...

I usually enjoy biographies and autobiographies and this one is enjoyable as well. At first I thought Ms. Rockefeller was of the "poor little rich girl" mentality, but actually I feel she is explaining that she has struggles finding her place in life just like anyone, money or not.

This book is about a journey we can all relate to. It's about finding yourself. It's an honest, inspirational memoir that I found educational and enlightening. More than anything, it ignited the passion in my heart to create positive change for others. Thank you Eileen... for sharing.

Daisy's Smile on the Cover is a Perfect Indicator

Redemption. Dog-love. Compassion. Frustration. Life.

Woven into this heart-warming story are all these components. As fascinating as the relationship between Daisy and the week-end puppy raiser (the author) is the relationship between the inmate-trainer and the author. How does a middle-class, law-abiding citizen relate to an inmate serving a long sentence for who-knows-what? Once the nature of the offense is discovered, how is the relationship changed? How does this happy and devoted puppy redeem them both? It would be hard to dislike this book.

Worthwhile read!

Lots of self-analyzing

The basic story is good - how raising a puppy to be a service dog affects the handler. However, The story bogs down with the author's introspection. She also analyzes almost every interaction. It was too much for me and I would skip over those parts.

I usually listen to books in one sitting but like the story to last as long as possible, so this one was O.K. That way. It was satisfying.

I liked the view point of this story. The secondary plot was informational and sensitive . It was a little hysterical about the inmates issues though.. I would be curious too but didn't really see why she felt so threatened.

The Gastronomy of Marriage was fairly interesting, although I got very bored with Michelle and Rich's various food issues, and additionally none of the recipes were at all appealing. Usually when I read a foodie memoir there's some recipe or idea I'll be interested in, but not in this case, I love fish and vegetables, but not those dishes, and not those vegetables. I like more eggplant, tomatoes, Brussels Sprouts, I don't like pasta, and amazingly Rich loves jello which makes both my husband and me very sick even just to smell it.

Delicious book!

I devoured this book. I could not put it down. The love story was equally compelling to the happily married housewife in me as the cooking was to my inner foodie. What a divine marriage of two wonderful topics, marriage and food. I highly recommend this as a great light read. I look forward to many more by this author.

A completely sweet little memoir

A completely sweet little memoir. I read it for the first time several years ago (checked out from the library), and I stumbled across it again in my suggested books list here on Amazon. I knew I needed to own it. You can get through this little book in a couple of hours and enjoy a vividly painted picture of a relationship, a place (New York City!), and a lovely series of meals.

Boring, poorly written and read

You might expect an Ivy League graduate to write eloquently. She doesn't. The narration would be better suited to children's books.

I really did not find this an interesting read. I purchased the book because I also went to college in Providence and heard stories about the Foxy Lady. Unfortunately nothing really resonated with me once I started listening. The narrator had a and older, posh sounding voice which made me less interested as well since I was hoping the story would be more like listening from the perspective of someone who was actually in college.
