Millions of years ago, on the continent of Africa, humans who survived and emigrated to other parts probably did so because when they saw many beings running in the opposite direction, they followed them. Herd mentality and conforming to group norms is almost always a positive approach for your survival. We survived because we followed and mimicked others. This helped us develop norms. Have you ever noticed that once we make certain things more efficient, we, sometimes, lose the emotional connection with the brand, service or object? For example, we now have more efficient planes, but the flying experience is less pleasant.

A couple of years ago, Wordpress had a security flaw, and once they fixed it, they asked all their users and customers to update to the newest version. Unfortunately, many people didn’t want to. After the Wordpress team gave it some thought, they came up with an unusual solution. During their next email update, they said they introduced five new emojis. And their users began updating the app.

In this episode I will talk about how there is no average, and why logic is not always the best approach. Especially if you want to create value.
