  • 15: The Indian Farmers' Strike w/ Sara and Chitra
This week we're talking to Sara and Chitra about the Indian Farmers' Strike. In this episode, we covered the reasons why and how the farmers are striking, the significance of anti-capitalism to their struggle, and how strikers are being organised on the ground. We also discussed the work of women farmers and organisers involved in the strike and Chitra shared firsthand experiences of the Delhi strike. Big thanks to our guests for sharing their knowledge and time with us. We're really excited about this episode of LASSCAST and hope you enjoy it too.
Sara is an African-American woman and activist in the Women of Colour Global Women's Strike. They organise from the bottom up to demand wages for unwaged caring work, against environmental racism, and in solidarity with Dalit and indigenous women.
Chitra is an artist and community worker, born in India and brought up in the UK. She has been based in Delhi since 2020 and recently set up a learning centre for children within an economically deprived neighbourhood.
And a further thank you to Sara and Chitra for providing these helpful resources: https://lasscast.wordpress.com/2021/04/05/resources-on-the-indian-farmers-strikes/

  • 14: Border and Prison Abolition w/ Ellie
This week we're back with our friend and Prisoner Solidarity Network activist Ellie to discuss the ideas behind the movement to abolish borders and prisons. What are borders? Have they always existed? Why should we care? What do prisons have to do with it? And, of course, what collective action can we take to show solidarity with our migrant and asylum seeker comrades to abolish borders and resist state violence? CWs for state and racialised violence and mention of sexual assault.
