The first 2024 Republican presidential debate is here. Eight candidates, including a cadre of governors and former governors, will face off for the first time in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at a debate hosted by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Candidates participating in the debate include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. Fox News lost control of the Republican’s primary debate Wednesday evening by the moderator’s own admission. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) said during the first Republican Party presidential primary debate on Wednesday night that the U.S. can secure the southern border by getting rid of the 87,000 IRS employees funded by the Biden administration and hiring border agents instead.
