LAST WORD RADIO

The guys are back after a long Stanley Cup Finals with a recap and lots of NHL news. They start off by taking a look at the Finals and everything that came with it. Looking at the winning and losing rosters moving forward, Alex and Chace debate who is in a better spot.

After that, they talk about why trading big helps out teams before moving on to some more post NHL season topics.

Next, the two look at a ton of news. Starting off with some signings which include the massive Erik Karlsson deal. As well as Jordan Eberle, Roman Polak, Jeff Skinner, and Anthony Duclair. The guys break down which signings made sense and which ones will hurt.

Following that, they move onto some trades that happened. Radko Gudas found a new home and the guys think one team came out much farther ahead than another. Olli Maatta also looks to revive his career in a new home. Chace is much more in favour than for one side than the other. Tune in for all of this and more with the MnM Hockey Podcast!

What's up Internet? This week on Last Word SC Radio, Rachael McKriger joins Dan and Matt for a U.S. Soccer super podcast. We recap the FIFA Women's World Cup so far. The crew breaks down the United States Women's National team performance so far and looks ahead to what the USWNT knockout stage could look like. 

Then Dan has a USMNT rant brewing. We try to take a 30,000 foot view of the friendlies and talk expectations and fan outrage culture going into the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Last Word on Habs Pod: Draft and Free Agency Spectacular

On this very special edition of the pod, Connor and Johannes talk all things Habs offseason. To help them along, the guys bring in two very knowledgeable guests. Both guests (and Johannes) break down the Habs biggest needs this offseason and how they might go about filling them.

First off, Ben Kerr joins the guys to take a deep dive into the NHL draft. The conversation starts with the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues. Ben talks about the dangers of playing the copycat game in the NHL. Enough about the other teams, this is a Habs pod. Obviously, the guys want to know who Ben thinks would be a good fit with the Habs. Connor throws some names at Ben for his thoughts. Johannes wonders about trading, while Connor wants to know about sleepers.

Next, the guys bring in TSN 690's Joey Alfieri. The guys discuss the draft as well but focus more on juicy Habs rumours. Erik Karlsson, Matt Duchene, Shayne Gostisbehere and the Habs 15th overall pick are all discussed. No interview would be complete without some drama. Connor (stupidly) starts a salacious rumour that might land Joey in some hot water with his family.

BeLeaf In Magic - Marleau Out?

After another disappointing season for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the head honchos of the famed ice hockey club have a bunch of tough tasks on their hands. The first, and probably most important, is to re-sign their top winger Mitch Marner to a fair and just contract extension. Maybe while they are at it, convince unrestricted free agent Jake Gardiner that taking a pay cut to stay will bring him more riches when the team theoretically wins another Cup.

In order to do that, a ritual sacrifice will have to be offered to the vile and unforgiving salary cap gods. At the moment, according to reports, Papa Pat might get shown the door. Not forgetting to mention, Nikita Zaitsev.
