During this episode, I open up a bit about my experience living alone in a new city during a pandemic – one we are all just beginning to know. This show is about coping with social distancing and isolation, as well as leaning into working on your own while still collaborating with others. It's about looking for and finding – the humanity amongst the chaos.

This show was a bit difficult to get out - not because the actual interview wasn't an absolute delight - but because the original recording/editing of this episode was caught in the middle of a move between two cities, eight hours apart. Nevertheless, I am happy to share this conversation with you.

During this talk with Canadian singer/songwriter, Karen Morand, I warm up by asking a few silly questions, that actually elicit some very endearing responses – yes, there will be laughter. But then we dig into something a little bit deeper; unveiling the heavier truths behind why we might hold ourselves back from doing the work we truly love and from taking it as far as it can go.

Welcome to episode 72 – It's the week after Canada's 43rd national election and I'm excited to be back! One of the subjects we did not hear all that much about during the Canadian election debates was about the changing nature of work – and what those changes will mean to current and new employees entering the workforce. 

During this episode, we talk with employment lawyer, Shelley Brown, about the relationship between workers (direct employees and those on contract) and the companies they work for. Listen in as we discuss the perils of out-of-date work contracts in the face of the ever-changing social and workplace landscapes. We'll dive into matters regarding rights, privacy, and the latest concerns about cannabis.

Just over a year ago, MIT assembled a Task Force on Work of the Future "in an attempt to understand the relationships between emerging technologies and work and to explore strategies to enable a future of shared prosperity." In light of their recently released 2019 Fall Report, we asked Dr. Elisabeth Reynolds, Executive Director of the MIT Task Force to join us to talk about where we stand on the future of work; and whether or not we should be optimistic or cautious about what lies ahead.

Chelsea Pietz joins us to talk to us about how we can maintain authenticity while utilizing the tools of social media to our advantage with our work while also fostering real human connections. We’ll talk about how to get past the intimidation that may tempt us to not really be ourselves on social media and answer the question on whether or not introverts at a serious disadvantage in this new world of online personalities.
