Rosie Prohías Driscoll is a Cuban-American educator and poet. She teaches high school English in Alexandria, Virginia, where she lives with her husband and a host of ancestral spirits who keep her rooted and grateful. Abram Valdez is a Chicano author from Denton County, Texas, where he and his partner Marissa are raising four children. As a first-generation college graduate, his father was both proud and horrified at Abram's plans to attend graduate school at the University of Arkansas's MFA program for Creative Writing with an emphasis in poetry (he would have preferred Abram go into computer sciences and not "write for greeting cards").
