EPISODE & GUEST INFO:
This is the last part of a three-part episode series featuring Curandero, Antonio J. Garcia. Antonio J. Garcia is a Jicarilla Apache and Mexika community organizer, activist, lifelong student, danzante in the Danza Azteca, and practitioner of Curanderismo. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Antonio has traveled all over the Western hemisphere studying this medicine and treating our gente. Antonio has prayed and studied in this way for many years. His practice is rooted in traditional indigenous remedios from Southern and Central Mexico as well as Guatemala. He continues to study and practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In this episode, we dive deeper into the topic of curanderismo as we touch on an array of topics including cultural appropriation, gateway appropriation, corn divination, ayahuasca, the preservation of the traditional harvesting of sage and palo santo, Brujeria, and how medicine can become “bitter,” when not approached with integrity, etc.

***
Susana Edith is a mother of two, who currently resides in Dallas, Texas. She was born in Michoacán, Mexico and migrated to New York when she was younger, it was there that she began her work in the community alongside her mother advocating for the rights of migrant farmworkers. Susana Edith now finds herself in Dallas in support of her community under a collective called - Lucha Dallas. Under which she and her fellow collectives have formed a book club focusing on POC authors and other relevant subjects such as decolonizing our diets. She spends her time decolonizing herself and her children while actively creating platforms and safe spaces for the latinx and POC community. She believes the best way to be involved is by entering a community and listening to the needs of the people and using personal experience and privilege to provide aid.
